Booking Success was recently invited by The Bonaire Hotel and Tourism Association (BONHATA) to participate in their seminar ‘Hospitality Marketing Trends in 2019’ which was going to be held on Monday, June 17th. Naturally, we happily accepted this invitation and on Saturday, June 15th, a number of us headed down to Bonaire.
Visiting Bonaire always feel a bit like coming home. We were warmly welcomed and our transition for the airport to our resort was seamless. During our stay we were able to catch up with some of our existing clients, and after the seminar we met several hotel owners and other hospitality professionals, resulting in many learning opportunities.
Seminar 'Hospitality Marketing Trends in 2019'
During the seminar, Alexander Galarraga, Partner and Lead Strategist of Booking Success, gave a 75-minute presentation about how hotels and resorts can thrive in a world of information overload. Having worked in the hospitality marketing for over 15 years, we can confidently state that the hospitality sector has been significantly impacted by the growth of digital platforms, due to major shifts in how people research, plan, and book their accommodations.
Some of the topics that were raised during our presentation included the different ways to grow your share of direct bookings while reducing your OTA commissions, the modern traveler in the digital age, and the so-called ‘island curse’.
Bonaire, thank you for having us
For us it was an interesting trip; exchanging many ideas and discussing how we can support Bonaire to increase revenue in hotels and welcome more tourists to this little piece of paradise. We are already looking forward to our next visit to Bonaire!
